Blue Moon Promise Under Texas Stars series By Colleen Coble

Book Description:

Tell me, Miss Marsh, are you a Christian?”

“Why, yes sir, I am.”

“I thought as much. God has led me here for a purpose…

I have a proposition for you.”

Lucy Marsh’s worldly resources are running out, but she’s fiercely determined to care for her younger brother and sister. When she discovers that their father’s recent death was no accident, Lucy is eager to leave town. She accepts a proxy marriage she believes will provide safe refuge. But trouble follows her to Wichita Falls, Texas, where the man she came to marry seems surprised to suddenly have a wife and children to provide for.

Nate Stanton always hoped he’d marry someday, but running the family ranch meant he had no time for romance. When his father deposits Lucy Marsh—a city girl—on his doorstep, with two siblings in the bargain, he expects ranch life will send her running on the first train out of town. But Lucy is made of tougher stuff than Nate imagined. When danger moves in, Nate realizes he’d give anything to protect Lucy and the children he’s grown to love. Even if it means giving up his ranch.

Blue Moon Promise is a story of hope, romance and suspense…immersing the reader in a rich historical tale set under Texas stars.

My Review:

This is the second book that I read from this author. I love Lucy this character very much. She's strong, determine and protective to her two siblings despite they are not sharing the same mother. She was thrown into a desperate situation to accept the proxy marriage proposed by Nate's father. When she met with Nate finally, despite strong protest from Nate at the beginning from this marriage, but Lucy did not turn away and run. And I like how Nate treated Lucy. And the development of their relationship had been so natural. Even though Nate's father had his own agenda to match-make Nate with Lucy, but nonetheless he found a good wife for his son.

I enjoy reading this book very much. The suspense elements that found in this book made me hard to put it down. Not to mention the interactions between Nate and Lucy. I'm looking forward for future works by this author.

I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The Baker's Wife By Erin Healy

Book Description

If what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, why is Audrey growing weaker by the day?

When her husband Geoff, a pastor, lost his job after a scandal rocked their congregation, Audrey's never lost faith.

They decide to resurrect a failing bakery as a way to heal family wounds and restore their place in the community.

Running late to the bakery one foggy morning, Audrey strikes a vehicle. Emerging from her car into the fog, she discovers she hit a motor scooter. But there’s no rider in sight. Just blood.

The absence of the driver is a mystery, especially to Sergeant Jack Mansfield, the detective and church member responsible for firing Geoff from his pulpit. The scooter belongs to Jack’s wife, Julie, a teacher at the local high school, who has vanished…like morning fog.

Though there is no evidence to support Jack’s growing suspicion that Audrey and Geoff were involved in Julie’s disappearance, the detective is convinced of their guilt. When he takes the tiny bakery and its patron’s hostage, Audrey must unravel the secret of Julie’s disappearance and her own mysterious suffering before Jack hits his breaking point.

My Review:

This is a very interesting story. Again, I'm amazed by the way the author tells a story. The pace is not fast, but not too slow that will make you lost interest. The author has her unique way on slowly revealing more and more on the characters throughout the whole book. I like Geoff, Audrey and Ed. They did not give up and still trust the God despite what had happened to them. On the other hand, Jack was blaming others on what had happened thinking he's right. Just because he's an detective, did not do any things that's against the law does not mean he's always right and deserved only good things.

This book is a Christian fiction. It's a book about hope, having faith, healing and forgiveness. I enjoy reading this book very much. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
